Privacy Policy – STAR SURAKSHA

This Privacy Policy describes how Star Security Services (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use the STAR SURAKSHA web and mobile applications (the “Service”).

Last Updated: July 17, 2026

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated automatically while you use the Service, including:

  • Account details (name, phone number, Guard ID, role, employer, assigned site).
  • Authentication data (encrypted PIN or password, session tokens).
  • Duty records, patrol logs, checkpoint scans, attendance events, incident reports, and evidence you upload.
  • Messages, images, voice notes, and location shares sent through in-app chat.

2. Location Data

When you are on duty, STAR SURAKSHA collects precise GPS location (foreground and, where required, background) to enable real-time guard tracking, patrol verification, geofenced attendance, and SOS response. Location collection is tied to your active duty session and stops when you go off duty. You may revoke location permission from your device settings at any time; certain on-duty features will be unavailable without it.

3. Camera Access

Camera access is used only when you initiate an action that requires it: scanning QR checkpoints, capturing incident evidence, submitting attendance selfies, or attaching a photo in chat. We do not access the camera in the background.

4. Attendance Records

Attendance records include check-in and check-out timestamps, associated site and checkpoint, GPS coordinates at the moment of scan, and (where enabled) a verification photo. These records are retained as part of your employer's operational and compliance history.

5. Device Information

We collect device model, operating system version, app version, network type, language, time zone, and diagnostic logs (e.g., crash traces, GPS accuracy, sync status). This information is used strictly to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

6. How We Use Your Data

  • Deliver core features: live tracking, attendance, patrols, incident reporting, chat, and SOS alerts.
  • Verify duty completion and generate compliance reports for authorized clients and supervisors.
  • Secure the Service, detect abuse, and respond to security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations and lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

7. Data Security

Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in access-controlled databases with row-level security policies that restrict each user to the records they are authorized to see. Passwords and PINs are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing. Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel and audited.

8. Data Retention

Operational records (attendance, patrol logs, incident reports, evidence) are retained for the duration your employer requires them, and thereafter for the period necessary to comply with applicable Indian labour, contractual, and legal obligations. Diagnostic logs are retained for a short rolling window. When retention is no longer required, data is deleted or anonymized.

9. Third-Party Services

STAR SURAKSHA relies on a small number of trusted service providers acting as processors:

  • Supabase – authentication, database, storage, and realtime infrastructure.
  • Google Play Services – device location, push notifications, and app distribution on Android.
  • Map providers – for rendering maps and route replays.

These providers may process limited data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

10. Your Rights

You may request to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal data (see our Account Deletion page).
  • Withdraw consent for optional permissions (e.g., camera, location) via your device settings.

Some records may be retained where retention is required for legal or contractual compliance.

11. Children

The Service is intended for authorized security personnel and clients. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. The “Last Updated” date reflects the most recent revision.
